Captain oh My Captain

A release of breath on a fine but freshman day,

Can excite, terrify, and trend you for future life’s decisions, will it be ok.

Searching for your sanctuary in a sea of everchanging life and circumstance,

Can be softened by a touch, glance, or internal TIGER that says I’ll take that chance.

Day apprised of greetings from friend to foe, and the assumption of teachers sizing the prey,

Nerves display looking for foundational friendships, calmed by you with words my brothers and sisters come sit I say.

A voice so calming yet full of light who happens to be looking for souls to teach,

Then you greet us extending confidence with a story, a challenge or a that day speech.

Gracing us with experience and thought in personal ways individually with a roar or a whisper just try,

Classroom invite, no prejudice just fun, friendship, and laughter as senses come alive listening to Iron Butterfly.

Then graduation, and you and friends reminisce about that mentor that welcomed and strengthened your will,

As that mentor built your mind, skills, and heart with fun by your side and your faces go still.

Then with a resounding roar the group says ah yes Richard Keith Hill fighting to tell their experience or gift you can revisit with nostalgia via imagine,

For he has graced us all and is now taking a final bow, and we say thank you Captain oh my Captain

With love 80’s 90’s 2000 10’s, and yes 20’s
